Everything Cutscript did when the first public beta shipped.
New in this beta
- Playback no longer stops for a moment at each cut: the next part is ready before the playhead gets there.
- A redesigned timeline: rounded, colour-coded clips with letter badges, linked audio under the video, the transcript row on top, and a dashed Insert slot for new media.
- Range actions (Cut, Lift and Delete) now sit in the transport bar, away from the ruler.
- A reorganised right sidebar: entries in three groups (Add, Style and Edit), with Project and AI pinned at the bottom. Media and Library, Text and Notes, and the two AI panels are now one place each.
- Drag the edge of the right sidebar to make it wider.
- Webcam and layout passages drag in both directions, stop at the next passage instead of replacing it, and Escape puts a drag back.
- The word being spoken is marked with a green box, in the light and dark themes.
- Switch between light and dark from the editor’s top bar, next to Keyboard shortcuts.
- This list of what’s new, from the dashboard or Settings → About.
Recording
- A floating recorder toolbar: record a display, a window or an area, with a countdown, pause and resume, and discard.
- Record your microphone, system audio and camera. The microphone has its own input and a level meter, and the recorder tells you when it hears only silence.
- A camera monitor lets you see yourself while you record, and is kept out of the recording.
- Draw while you record: pen, highlighter, shapes, laser, spotlight, blur and pixelate. Drawings replay in the editor and in the export.
- Settings → Recording lists the permissions Cutscript needs, each with an Allow button.
- Choose the countdown, frame rate, stop and pause shortcuts, and hide desktop icons while you record.
- Recordings open as projects and are transcribed automatically. A take that did not finish is offered back to you.
- Experimental: record a connected iPhone or iPad, and choose which apps’ sound to record (Settings → Recording).
Edit by text
- Transcripts with word timings and speaker labels. Click a speaker’s label to rename them.
- Delete words to cut the video. The cut shows in the preview, the waveform and the timeline at once, and you can restore it.
- Ignore words to skip them but keep them visible, remove words from the transcript only, or correct a word’s text without touching the video.
- Set or shorten the pause after a word.
- Find any word, or find all the filler words.
- Backspace in empty script space moves instead of deleting, and each project reopens where you left off.
- Re-transcribe a project and choose its language.
- Undo and redo for every edit.
Timeline and tracks
- A multitrack timeline: add as many video, image, music, sound effect and voice tracks as you need, each in its own bordered row.
- Move, trim, split, fade, set the volume of, mute, solo, lock and hide clips and tracks.
- Set in and out points with I and O, then Cut (⇧X), Lift or Delete the range, or export only that range.
- Razor, markers, snapping and a full set of keyboard shortcuts (⌘/ lists them).
- Split the main recording and drag the pieces to reorder them.
- Dialogue volume right on the timeline, with a Dialogue row for each recorded take’s microphone.
- Transitions at cuts: dip to black, dip to white, and wipes.
Motion editing
- Automatic zooms from your clicks, drag selections and the circles or boxes you draw. They are added right after you record, and you can turn them off.
- Edit a zoom’s area visually, click the preview to zoom there, or keep the video Always in zoom.
- Change the aspect ratio above the preview. Portrait versions reframe themselves to follow your cursor.
- Cursor styles taken from your own Mac and six more, with size, smoothing, sway and click effects (ripple, spotlight and echo).
- Screen looks: gradients, your Mac’s wallpapers or your own image, with padding, corners, shadow and crop. Copy a look and paste it elsewhere.
- Visual pickers for cursors and backgrounds, and a safe reset in each section.
- Webcam bubble: shape, size, position and animated borders; full-screen or hidden passages; animated layout changes; webcam zoom; and chroma key.
- Layout track: two to four panels of screen, webcam, images or video, in rows, columns, a grid or a hero arrangement.
- Speed regions to speed up or slow down part of the video.
Captions and text
- 24 caption presets with animation and word highlighting. Drag captions to place them; they are burned into the exported video.
- A font picker that shows each installed font in its own typeface.
- Place text on the preview and type straight into it, and add arrows, boxes, blur and images as notes.
Media and audio library
- Import video, audio and images (⌘I). The media library has thumbnails and search.
- Drag any media onto the timeline to make a new track where you drop it.
- Move, scale, rotate, crop and fade overlays, and set their opacity, right on the preview.
- Overlays either follow the script when you cut it or stay at a fixed time.
- Generate music, sound effects and voiceovers, including music and sound effects timed to a passage of the script.
- A library of your music, sound effects and voices with hover preview. Reuse what you generated without paying again.
Graphics, brand kits and Motion studio
- Motion graphics: 13 presets, including device mockups, patterns and 3D-style blocks. Change their text, colours and animation, then add them over a selection.
- An AI director that builds maps, charts, titles and infographics from your words and files, with three previews to pick from.
- Over 13,000 built-in icons, plus online search for logos and icons.
- Brand kits you enter by hand or capture from a website, used whenever you generate.
- A graphics library: every graphic is saved and can be reused in any project.
- Upload your own images for mockup screens and scene layers.
- Motion studio, on the dashboard: make a standalone graphics video.
AI agent
- Clean up a take: remove filler words, shorten pauses and remove repetitions.
- The AI editor chat reads your transcript and proposes exact cuts that you review before applying.
- Edit the video by chat in the Graphics panel: describe an edit (graphics, text, zoom, speed, webcam layout, background, captions, split, volume, track visibility or a transition), review the plan, then apply it as one undo step.
- Spending limits per message and per day, and a price shown before every paid step.
- Runs on your own OpenRouter key, with the models and providers you choose in Settings.
Export
- Video as MP4, MOV or WebM, with resolution, frame rate, quality and loudness settings.
- Audio as M4A, WAV, MP3 or FLAC.
- Timelines for Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and EDL.
- Transcripts as TXT, Markdown, HTML, DOCX or RTF, and subtitles as SRT or VTT.
- What you see in the preview is what renders into the file.
- Hardware encoding with Apple VideoToolbox, on an LGPL build of FFmpeg.
Appearance
- Light, dark or system appearance in Settings → Appearance, and a light/dark switch in the editor’s top bar.
- Make the script text bigger or smaller with ⇧⌘= and ⇧⌘-.
- Drag to resize the script column and the timeline.
