Where to look first, how to ask in the community forum, what to include in a report, and how to hire the team or support the project.
Cutscript is free and open source, and its help comes from these docs, the changelog and the community forum. This page says where to look, what to include when you ask, and how to reach the team behind Cutscript.
Start here
- Troubleshooting covers the problems people hit most, by the message you see.
- Questions and answers covers price, accounts, AI costs, offline use and safety.
- Known limitations lists what does not work yet.
- The changelog lists every release. In the app, choose Help › Changelog, or click Changelog in Settings › About.
The community forum
The forum is at cutscript.dev/community, on this site. Anyone can read it. To post, sign in with GitHub or Google. There are no passwords. Search the forum first, because your question may have an answer already.
- A question: post in Help and questions. Say your Cutscript and macOS versions, and mark the reply that solved it. AI accounts and costs go in AI director and graphics. Cameras, microphones and capture go in Recording and devices.
- A bug: post in Bug reports. Give your version, the steps that make it happen again, what you expected and what happened.
- An idea: post in Feature requests. Describe the job you are trying to do, not only the button.
A new account can't post links or pictures in its first day. About the community lists every category, the badges and the house rules.
What to include when you ask for help
A good report lets someone else see what you saw. Write down:
- Your version. Open Settings › About. It reads like "Version 0.1 beta (0.1.0-beta.14)".
- Your macOS version and chip. Choose Apple menu › About This Mac.
- What you did, and what you expected. Name the step: recording, transcribing, an AI request, a download from a link or an export.
- The exact message. Copy the text, or take a screenshot of it.
- For an AI step, the provider and the model you used.
Do not share an API key, a screenshot that shows one, or a project package with media you cannot make public.
Hire the team
Cutscript is made by Kwebby, which also takes on client work. If you need hands-on help or want something built, see kwebby.com/services. In the app, Hire us is in the home screen's sidebar, the Help menu and Settings › About.
Support the project
Donations pay to keep Cutscript going, and give you nothing extra in the app. You can give any amount at cutscript.dev/donate. On the community forum, donors also get a gold badge and the Donors club. See About the community.
In the app, the Support Cutscript card at the bottom of the home sidebar and the heart in the top bar open that page and show the current goal. The widget reads the public goal figures from cutscript.dev and sends nothing about you. To hide it, turn off Show support widget in Settings › About. See What leaves your Mac.
