What's new in 0.1 beta 22

Remove background on any video or a selected part, with Pro; one Webcam and face section; the hand in recordings; your own cursors; Whisper as your default.

Updated 5 min read

In version 0.1 beta 22 Cutscript Pro can remove the background behind a person in any video, or in only the part you select, with no green screen, on your computer. The Webcam and Face tabs are now one section. New recordings on a Mac show the hand and the I-beam, and you can use your own cursors. On Windows, this update also brings Colors, Face and the scopes you can move. Each section below says what changed, where to find it, and links to its full page.

On a Mac, Cutscript downloads updates in the background and installs them when you restart. On Windows, this update comes through the Microsoft Store. See Update Cutscript.

Remove the background, on any video or a selected part

Turn on Remove background in Webcam and face and Cutscript removes the room behind a person, with no green screen. It works on people only, on the camera, the main video, or a B-roll or overlay video clip, and Applies to says which. With a B-roll clip or a main piece selected, it also shows in Clip. It runs on your computer, on a Mac and on Windows, and nothing is uploaded.

It applies to what is selected: a clip, words or In to Out, with Whole video when nothing is selected. Only that part is processed, so 20 seconds of a one hour video does not cost you the hour. Reset to whole video takes a part back.

It comes with Cutscript Pro. On the free plan it shows with a Pro pill and a Get Pro button, and the switch starts nothing. A clean export earned by a review on X does not open it.

Under Behind the person, pick Transparent, Blur, Colour or Picture.

It takes time and disk space, and each job takes a few seconds to start. One video runs at a time, and every part that has it on has to finish before you can export.

One section for the camera and the face

The Webcam and Face tabs are one section now, Webcam and face, in the same place in the right rail. Remove background comes first, then the camera, then the face. Detach the face is an optional switch there.

The hand in your recordings

On a Mac, the pointer in a new recording changes the way it did on your screen: the hand over a link, the I-beam over text, the arrows on a window edge. Each style has its own drawing of each one. A take recorded before this update has no record of which pointer was showing, so its pointer stays an arrow.

Your own cursors

Under Your cursors in Cursor, press Add your own and use your own images as the pointer, on any plan. One image is enough, or give it two: Browse for the normal pointer and Hover and click for the hand over links and buttons. Click the picture to set the tip, the exact point that clicks. Your sets show in every project, and a project keeps its pointer if you delete a set or send the project to another computer.

Whisper in the Default model list

On a Mac with Apple silicon, the Whisper models you downloaded are rows in Settings › AI › Transcription, marked On this Mac. Pick one as your default and transcripts are made on your Mac for free, without speaker labels.

The same models are in the Transcribe menu on the home screen, and under Transcription model in File › New Project… and Re-transcribe, for one file.

Whisper on your computer is not on Windows or on an Intel Mac. They transcribe with a cloud provider.

A Transcribe menu on the home screen

The Transcribe menu beside Create picks the model for this file or link, or Don’t transcribe, and never changes Settings. In the text box, Enter creates and Shift+Enter makes a new line.

A What's new slider

After an update, a short What's new slider shows what changed, with a picture for each change. It shows one time for each update.

One PC, one computer

A slow launch could make one PC look like two computers, which could leave Pro showing Free. Cutscript now keeps the same id for the PC between launches, so it stays one computer.

Colors, Face and movable scopes on Windows

The Microsoft Store version was on 0.1 beta 18. This update takes it to 0.1 beta 22, so it also brings what betas 19, 20 and 21 added:

  • Colors: grade your footage, with video scopes, .cube looks and grading with AI.
  • Face: give a face its own colours, or detach it as a bubble that follows the person.
  • Scopes you can move: they open in the corner that covers the least of the picture, and you can drag them.

The rest is in 0.1 beta 19, 0.1 beta 20 and 0.1 beta 21.
